Dr. Mihăileanu Florin Vasile graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Iuliu Hațieganu” Cluj-Napoca in 2001 and started his professional training in the field of general surgery as a resident at the Regional Institute of Gastroenterology and Hepatology “Prof. Dr. Octavian Fodor” Cluj-Napoca within the surgical team coordinated by Prof. Dr. Cornel Iancu, becoming a specialist in general surgery in 2010.

In 2013 he became Doctor of Medical Sciences with a PhD thesis entitled “Iatrogenic lesions of the biliary tract after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Modalities of surgical treatment” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Liviu Vlad.

Since 2011 he is Assistant Professor at UMF Cluj-Napoca in the Discipline of Surgery 2 – Hospital Județean de Urgență Cluj-Napoca, and in 2016 he became Primary Physician of General Surgery.

He benefits from an extensive postgraduate training, having attended numerous specialization courses in the field of general surgery, especially in laparoscopic surgery.

He has been a researcher in 2 national grants carried out in the Clinic of Surgery 3 Cluj-Napoca. A special area of interest is obesity surgery for which he has conducted several training courses participating with the team of Prof. Dr. Aurel Mironiuc in over 150 laparoscopic gastric resections (gastric sleeve) and abdominal wall surgery.

He has performed numerous surgeries: digestive, hepato-biliary, oncological, parietal pathology (laparoscopic approach of inguinal hernias, umbilical, eventrations) and vascular pathology.
